<p>2023 will be remembered as the year when Bollywood came back to life. This year has seen it everything, from surprise successes to the greatest money spinners. Abhishek Bachchan recently discussed Bollywood’s resurgence and identified the year’s best popular movie. It’s interesting to note that Abhishek did not choose Animal, the most recent blockbuster starring Ranbir Kapoor, as his best success, nor Pathaan, Jawan, or Gadar 2, starring Shah Rukh Khan.</p>

<p>The 12th Failure, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and starring Vikrant Massey. Abhishek recently went to a Galatta Plus roundtable conversation with Vikrant, Bhumi Pednekar, and Konkana Sen Sharma. Abhishek discussed his predictions for 2023 and why he believes 12th Fail would be the year’s greatest success. “You also need to comprehend something called a quantum in order to be an astute student and observer of the sector. With all due respect, Vikrant has provided a fantastic example of a modest picture with a large heart at work, but I’m not sure what his budget would have been. However, it couldn’t have exceeded a single digit, or Rs 10–12 crore. A film produced on that budget will likely only be eligible for certain forms of marketing. It is an excellent movie, therefore it will inevitably develop. And that is necessary.</p>
<p>Abhishek explained why Jawan is not as successful as 12th Fail.</p>
<p>Abhishek went on to draw comparisons between Jawan and 12th Fail’s box office performance, saying, “A movie like (12th Fail) cannot make Rs 500 crore due to the system. Those types of theaters are not available to him. Due to his limited number of theaters, he has been able to screen the movie for a large number of people, meaning that its occupancy rate will be very high. He is not going to be able to compete with a Jawan, which is produced on a budget that may be 20 times larger than his own. And it’s none other than Mr. Shah Rukh Khan, one of the greatest stars the country has ever seen. Each movie has its own threshold, but based on the ROI (return on investment) %, I’m certain that Vikrant has been the year’s greatest success.” Since its October 27 release, 12th Fail has raked in Rs 65.98 crores globally and exceeded the 50-day mark in theaters.</p>
